| CERRO DEL MASSO CHIANTI: This 50-hectare estate is Alberto Antonini’s family property. He has spent the past decade replanting vineyards and modernising the winery. The vineyards are situated on beautiful hills, which are south and southwest facing. They are planted primarily with Sangiovese, though Alberto is increasing the amount of Merlot he has in the ground as some of the sites have a high percentage of clay in the soil, so are particularly suited to it. The wine has all the Antonini trademarks: a deep colour, a ripe plummy nose, a full, fleshy palate with supple tannins and great balance. |
