Established in 1996 by Tim and Mimi Spears, Clos Mimi is a tiny boutique winery located in Santa Maria, California. Inspired by the greatest "monocépage" wines of Burgundy, Côte Rotie and Hermitage, Clos Mimi is committed to vineyard designated, one hundred percent Syrah farmed by small family growers in Paso Robles and Santa Ynez.
"Clos Mimi`s finest effort to date, the powerhouse 1998 Syrah Shell Creek Vineyard reveals some heat in the finish, but it offers dazzling levels of prune-infused black raspberry and plum fruit intermixed with cassis, blackberries, pepper, violets, and liquorice. Made from destemmed, foot-pressed fruit, it is complex, full-bodied, dense, concentrated, and massive. This individualist, distinctive Syrah pushes the envelope. It should drink well for 10-15 years.
