we may as well drink a glass of Champagne” - Paul Claudel

Champagne J.M GOBILLARD, Hautvillers
Situated in the heart of Champagne, the incomparable site of Hautvillers dominates the vineyards with its abbey, in which the cellar master (monk) Dom Perignon produced some of the first Champagne bubbles in 1681.
Maison JM Gobillard is a small family-owned and run property with about 25 hectares of mainly 1er Cru vineyards in Hautvillers. The viticultural methods are resolutely orientated towards quality, with hand-harvesting and yields limitation resulting in extremely elegant and racy Champagnes .

Chardonnay (50%) with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier planted on the 1er Cru slopes of Hautvillers, Dizy and Cumieres.
Aged for three years in the cellar before release, this superb Champagne has a delicate, elegant raspberry-scented nose. Lovely, soft texture with summer fruits, brioche and a creamy edge; mineral notes and citrus fruit are found on its fresh, bright, zippy ending.

“Simply gorgeous - refined, fresh and delicately creamy - from a small house with a big reputation”. MARY DOWEY, THE GLOSS December 2007

A lacy, floral nose, leading onto a wonderful, elegant Champagne with delicate honey and biscuits to complement the fresh green fruits. Very attractive and very keenly priced too. John Wilson
