| OSOYOOS LAROSE - OKANAGAN VALLEY BRITISH COLUMBIA – CANADA Our first wine from Canada, a joint venture between Classed Growth Chateau Gruaud Larose in Bordeaux and Vincor (owner of Inniskillin Ice Wine). The vineyards are situated in the southern part of the Okanagan Valley, on the shores of Lake Osoyoos. The proximity to the lake mitigates the very warm temperatures in the near desert conditions of the Okanagan. The vineyards were first planted in 1999 with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. In 2002, Bordeaux winemaker Pascal Madevon moved to British Columbia to become resident winemaker and viticulturalist at Osoyoos Larose. In the winery, his consultant has been Michel Rolland. This star-studded cast has produced a stellar first wine. It is deep in colour, fresh and scented on the nose, elegant and understated with good depth on the palate and a plummy, blackcurranty character to the fruit. |
