Tommaso Bussola is clearly one of the leaders in Valpolicella. Not originally from a noted winemaking family, Bussola purchased his winery and vineyards in the early 1990s, having learnt something of the winemaking business from his uncle, Guiseppe, a local grower. Bussola produces two ranges of wines, each comprising a Valpolicella Classico Superiore, an Amarone della Valpolicella Classico and a Recioto della Valpolicella Classico. The `BG` (Bussola Guiseppe, after his uncle) range of wines are produced with cost in mind, having less exposure to oak and less age.
The `TB` (Tommaso Bussola) range are where anything goes, hang the cost.
"A brilliant deep ruby in colour, exceptionally rich and almost decadently sweet on the nose, it is equally luscious and mouth-filling on the palate, viscous, caressing, and with an uninterrupted flow of gratification from the initial sensations to the long, lingering close. "
