Sandford Estate is located in the Murray River area of Victoria, about 20 miles east of Mildara. The emphasis is on producing wines of balance and varietal character rather than the over sweetened, ‘bubble-gum’ style commonly found at this price level. All the wines are produced from Sandford own vineyards.
Shiraz (73%) and Cabernet were fermented separately, in several batches to retain the most of the varietal character. They were then blended to highlight the fullness and generosity of Shiraz and the structure and length of Cabernet. The nose opens up with enticing flavours of mulberry, cherries, blackcurrant mingling with spicy, oaky hints and tobacco notes. Smooth, rounded palate with concentrated berry flavours and gentle oak notes.
